FanDuel NFL Week 17 Picks and Advice: Running Back

With Dalvin Cook out this week, that leaves Derrick Henry ($10,200) as the clear cut number one back on the slate. Jonathan Taylor ($8,400) and David Montgomery ($8,200) are two players that have been on an absolute tear that offer similar potential at a much cheaper price. Both of their matchups are extremely strong and I could see both hitting the over.

Melvin Gordon III ($6,800) certainly burned me last week but I am willing to give him another chance as the only running back against a terrible Vegas run defense. I also think you can go back to Jeff Wilson ($6,300) against an average Seattle run defense. He looks incredibly explosive and with the injuries mounting to the San Fransisco offense, he could end up with a heavy workload as the last man standing.

With Week 17 being as strange as it is, you have to give a lot of the backups a look, with Malcolm Brown ($5,600), Darrell Williams ($5,800), Latavius Murray ($5,500), and Alexander Mattison ($5,000) being the three most important. Mattison and Murray will likely be some of the chalkier plays on the slate, but at least one needs to be in your cash lineup at their price point.

As for running backs I am fading, Austin Ekeler ($7,700) makes the top of the list. Since returning from injury, we have seen his opportunities fall almost every week. In addition, he has lost goal line touches to Kalen Ballage.

I am also avoiding the Tampa Bay and Arizona backfields, as they are both facing incredibly tough run defenses and there are multiple injury question marks surrounding them. If Chase Edmonds is ruled out, Kenyan Drake ($6,200) could become a volume-based play in tournaments.
