Stud: Jakobi Meyers

Over the last handful of weeks in the season, Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has been a solid piece in the passing game while leading a receiving unit that has seen some changes in personnel due to injuries.

In the regular-season finale against the Jets, Meyers was once again a big piece to the offense in New England, leading the receiving unit and even airing the ball out as the quarterback in the game.

Meyers finished with a team-best six catches for 68 yards through the air, also taking over at quarterback once in the game to throw for a 19-yard touchdown. Meyers is a piece New England needs to hang onto in 2021, and he proved that yet again in Week 17.

Dud: Giving up large chunk plays

Throughout the course of the game, New England gave up some large chunk plays to Sam Darnold and the rest of the New York offense, which was something that allowed the Jets more opportunities to find the endzone and potentially battle back into the game.

In the contest, New York finished with 266 yards through the air and 111 yards on the ground, but most of those yards came via large chunk plays in the game.

Specifically through the passing game, the Patriots defense gave up a game-long reception of 53 yards to Breshad Perriman, with seven other Jets wide receivers adding catches of 10 or more yards in the game. New England has had some shift in personnel on defense in 2020 and especially later on in the season, but the passing game continued to struggle in Week 17.
