NFL Power Rankings, Wild Card Round: Packers assert dominance, Washington sneaks in
By Randy Gurzi
There was a slim chance the Indianapolis Colts could have won the AFC South this weekend but that didn’t happen for them. They did their job as they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars by two touchdowns but the Tennessee Titans held them off by beating the Houston Texans and won with a tiebreaker.
The good news is, they still get a shot in the playoffs and they have a quarterback who has some serious postseason experience under his belt. Philip Rivers, who has been in the NFL since 2004, has played in 11 playoff games — none more impressive than when he went out there on a torn ACL and gave the New England Patriots a run for their money.
While that’s good for the Colts, what might be even better is the way Jonathan Taylor has been playing as of late. The rookie running back has been turning into an NFL star and had his best game of the season on Sunday. In their win over the Jags, he had 253 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries.
Indy also has an underrated defense which really took a step forward after they added DeForest Buckner this offseason. They have the pieces to make a run, but the AFC is tough and that could also mean they might go one and done — especially since they had the unlucky draw of playing in Buffalo in the Wild Card Round.
