Deshaun Watson trade landing spot No. 6: Washington Football Team

Washington might be a playoff team this season, but that doesn’t mean they’re in a desirable position moving forward. Alex Smith has been a wonderful story, but he isn’t the answer at quarterback for much longer, which is why it’d make sense for Ron Rivera and company to attempt to trade for Watson.

Because they made the playoffs, Washington won’t be in a great spot when it comes to drafting a quarterback, so making a big trade could be the route they take. They traded for Smith several years ago — an older quarterback who was clearly nearing the end of his career — and this trade would set them up for success for at least the next decade.

The NFC East is clearly an easy division to win, so Watson wouldn’t have to worry about competition in that department. Washington has an incredible defense, headlined by rookie Chase Young, their offense has names like Antonio Gibson and Terry McLaurin, and Rivera is a good coach.

Washington does have its fair share of issues, however, and this might not be an ideal destination for Watson if he’s serious about wanting a trade.
