When you look at the fact that the Baltimore Ravens had arguably the league’s most dangerous offense a season ago, it might’ve seemed strange to think they needed help on that side of the ball. But in the 2020 campaign, that has started to become clearer, even if the offense has started to gain some steam heading into the playoffs.

For as dynamic and talented as Lamar Jackson is at quarterback, the lack of weapons in the passing game in Baltimore is often staggering. Yes, part of the issue has been the third-year signal-caller missing throws and not being consistent. However, that’s not the only issue. There is no clear alpha in the Ravens’ wide receiver hierarchy, which is something that undoubtedly needs to change.
Adding Julio Jones would change that in an instant and Baltimore might be the team in one of the best positions to make such a move. They now have two straight seasons of strong playoff berths with Jackson as the quarterback, including entering as the AFC’s top seed last year. This is a team on the precipice of winning a Super Bowl if they can add the right pieces.
If the front office truly believes that Jones could be the piece to unlock the Ravens’ full potential, then they shouldn’t hesitate to make the trade. Trading for Jones is a undeniably a move to win now given his salary and his age. But for a Baltimore team that is already winning now, then adding a player who could have a monumental impact could be worth it.
