4. New York Jets

The Jets came so close to accomplishing their goal of “Tanking for Trevor”, but a late-season two-game win streak cost them the No. 1 pick and the rights to Trevor Lawrence’s NFL career. Instead, the Jets hold the No. 2 overall pick and have roughly over $70 million to work with this offseason.

Both of those things make the Jets’ head coaching job an intriguing one for sure. The new coach is going to have to decide if he wants to stick with Sam Darnold moving forward or if a guy like Justin Fields or Zach Wilson is too tough to pass on at No. 2. That decision and this hire will go a long way in determining if the Jets continue to be a laughing stock or if they turn things around and can contend in the AFC East.

There’s talent on this team and the Jets are armed with picks and money to improve the roster in 2021 and beyond. Darnold showed some life at the end of the season and if the Jets surround him with a better offensive line and give him a few more weapons, this team could be pretty good in the future.

The Jets job is an enticing vacancy but because of the history with this team in recent years, it’s still in the bottom half as far as the best jobs available go.
