2021 NFL Draft: 5 Best DeVonta Smith landing spots and fits
DeVonta Smith 2021 NFL Draft landing spot No. 4: Detroit Lions
What happens next at quarterback for the Detroit Lions undoubtedly is in question. As they are another team that’s set for a regime change, both in the front office and on the sidelines, there has been much speculation that the franchise could look to move on from veteran Matthew Stafford. Of course, that’s only speculation.

A certainty for the Lions offense moving forward is that they have some difficult decisions to make at wide receiver. With Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones Jr. and Danny Amendola all set to hit free agency this offseason, Detroit needs to solidify the future at the position, be it to work with Stafford or another option under center.
That’s where Smith would obviously come into the occasion. For my money, it would be surprising for the Lions not to re-sign Golladay given the No. 1 wide receiver ability he’s flashed when he’s been on the field. But he needs help beyond that and both Jones and Amendola are a bit long in the tooth.
As such, Smith could come in and be a perfect complement to Golladay. While the incumbent is a big-bodied downfield playmaker that can win in contested catch situations, the space-finding ability of the Alabama product would not only give the offense another dimension but open up the field for Golladay as well.
