Green Bay Packers: 5 Reasons beyond Aaron Rodgers they’ll win Super Bowl 55
1. LaFleur is putting on a coaching clinic with the Green Bay Packers
When the Green Bay Packers hired Matt LaFleur away from his previous role, a one-year stint as Titans offensive coordinator, there were questions about the new head coach. How would he gel with Aaron Rodgers? Would he be able to handle the duties of the job having never been in the role before? Was this just another guy who knows Sean McVay?
Even after the 13-3 season a year ago — and largely thanks to the blowout loss to the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game — the doubters were still looming. But what we’ve seen LaFleur do this season, especially coming down the stretch, is put on an absolute coaching clinic with how he’s operating right now.
For starters, it’s clear that the team is fully bought in. On both sides of the ball, if the head coach speaks on something he doesn’t like. we’ve seen it often get fixed quickly. But beyond that, the designs LaFleur is unfurling on offense are masterful. His use of pre-snap motion, play-action and general route designs are consistently putting his players in spots to make plays.
Though we probably don’t discuss it as regularly as we should, coaching matters when you’re at this point of the season. Every decision can have a real effect on the outcome of the game. Watching what LaFleur is doing right now with his schemes, designs and adjustments, it’s hard not to believe he’s ready to lead this team to the mountaintop.
