Green Bay Packers: 5 Defensive coordinators to replace Mike Pettine
Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator candidate No. 4: Kacy Rodgers
This might appear to be somewhat of a case of “if you can’t beat them, steal them from someone else’s staff” but that’s not entirely the case with Kacy Rodgers. The current defensive line coach in Tampa Bay under Todd Bowle’s watch, Rodgers is someone with plenty of experience and a track record of success throughout the league.

Rodgers has long been tied to Bowles as he was the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets when the latter was the head coach in the Big Apple. Those defenses weren’t rife with talent but, with the mindset of Rodgers and Bowles, they were still quite effective. Moreover, the defensive line with the Bucs has been a dominant unit.
In both meeting with the Buccaneers this season — in the regular season then the NFC Championship Game — LaFleur and the Packers were wholly complimentary of the Bowles/Rodgers style defense and the challenges it creates. Subsequently, it wouldn’t be a big leap in logic to think that they might want to incorporate that.
There’s not an inkling of a guarantee that Rodgers would want to leave Bowles’ side given the ties between the two defensive minds. Having said that, given his aggressive yet effective style of play and his roots, he could be a nice boost for the Packers on that side of the ball.
