The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are playing in Super Bowl 55 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Amongst the stars, there are role players who helped get them here.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are about to play in the Super Bowl for just the second time in franchise history. Throughout the season, the team has had plenty of star power. Tom Brady leads the group. For Brady, this will be his tenth appearance in the Super Bowl. Along with Brady, the offense is led by Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski, and Chris Godwin.

Although overlooked, the defense has plenty of premier players such as Lavonte David, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Devin White. With all of these emerging stars, it is easy to see how the Buccaneers could have positioned themselves to play in the Super Bowl.

The team has seen players on both sides of the ball statistically at or near the best of their careers. It is a good mix of youthful emerging stars and quality veterans who understand winning and losing in the NFL. This has helped the team keep perspective all season.

While the impact of the more regarded names is easy to see. There are other players who have also helped to get the team to where they are today. These players may have had a lesser-known impact, but they have still contributed to the team’s success.

5. Ryan Succop

When the Buccaneers signed Ryan Succop in September, they were hoping to stabilize one of the franchise’s most volatile positions. While he has not been the best kicker in the NFL, Succop has been steady for the Buccaneers.

No longer is the team worried about whether or not to attempt 40-yard field goals. Succop has been nearly automatic on everything from 45 yards in this season. In fact, Succop has hit 90.3 percent of his field-goal attempts this season and 91.2 percent of his PAT attempts.

Although Succop doesn’t have the big leg of some other kickers in the league, his consistency has been the element a team with playoff and Super Bowl aspirations have craved. The Buccaneers were just hoping for the kicking game to not be the weak link in a successful season. Succop has easily surpassed the goal.
