NFL: 27 most likely non-QB future Hall of Famers
Riding shotgun to the NFL’s all-time leading passer certainly has its perks, but Michael Thomas has been one of the game’s truly elite receivers since his arrival in New Orleans.
Jerry Rice is the only other wide receiver to ever win NFL Offensive Player of The Year, a feat Thomas replicated in 2019, and has already been named to two First-Team All-Pro Teams in his first five seasons. Thomas has twice led the league in receptions and was the NFL’s leading receiver in 2019.
It might get a bit tougher for Thomas to keep producing at this level, assuming that the Saints’ loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Divisional Playoffs was Drew Brees’ final game, but to date, Thomas is averaging 1,190 yards and 6.5 touchdowns per season. If Thomas even approaches that level of production over the next five seasons, in a pass-happy offense and era of football, it will be impossible to keep him out of the Hall of Fame.
