Power ranking Tom Brady’s 9 previous Super Bowl appearances
8. New England Patriots 13, Los Angeles Rams 3 (Super Bowl LIII)
As the Chiefs and Buccaneers prepare to clash on Super Sunday, it’s hard to fathom that those teams will combine for a mere 16 points, the lowest-scoring Super Bowl in the series’ history to date. It was a game where Tom Brady threw an early interception but settled down and relied on his running game, as well as wide receiver Julian Edelman.

The veteran signal-caller threw for 262 yards (21-of-35), with 10 completions and 141 yards to Edelman. Brady’s biggest throw of the game was a fourth-quarter connection to sure-handed tight end Rob Gronkowski which set up the game’s lone touchdown. Edelman captured game MVP honors and Brady won his sixth ring.
7. New England Patriots 20, St. Louis Rams 17 (Super Bowl XXXVI)
Those 2001 New England Patriots were the epitome of a team. In three postseason games, the club’s offensive unit scored a total of three touchdowns. And Tom Brady wasn’t on the field for one of them. Injured in the second quarter of the AFC title game at Pittsburgh, it was Drew Bledsoe who threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver David Patten.
But Brady’s ability to perform in the clutch turned out to be in full display against the Rams at the Superdome. With 1:30 to go, he drove the club 53 yards on nine plays and put Adam Vinatieri in position to kick the game-winning 48-yard field goal. Brady hit on just 16-of-27 throws for 145 yards and one score in the victory.
