Way-too-early 2021 NFL Power Rankings: Rams, Packers, Chiefs chasing Buccaneers

It’s been a while since the New York Jets did anything to get their fan base fired up. For example, the last time they needed a new head coach, they went and added a guy their fans spent the past couple of seasons laughing at.
Adam Gase proved to be a terrible leader for the Miami Dolphins and despite having a front-row seat to his demise with the Dolphins, the Jets front office decided to bring him in. And just as many of us on the outside expected, his reign was awful — which started with one of the most bizarre press conferences ever (but Dan Campbell and Nick Sirianni have now each given him a run for his money).
With Gase gone, the Jets — led by general manager Joe Douglas — made one of the best hires of the offseason in Robert Saleh. Nothing against the rest of the coaches hired, but Saleh seems to stand head and shoulders above the rest in terms of his resume. His defense with the San Francisco 49ers was the catalyst that led them to the Super Bowl following the 2019 season and he should be able to right the ship in New York.
As long as he has that unit respectable, they should be able to return to respectability once their new quarterback gets up to speed. As of now, it appears that will be Justin Fields and while they need to build around him, it feels like things are finally trending in the right direction for Gang Green.
