The Denver Broncos have plenty of weapons that need a franchise quarterback to guide them, a void Deshaun Watson could fill via trade this offseason.

Vic Fangio is entering his third year as head coach for the Denver Broncos and is facing a bit of pressure. After the optimism from winning four of the final five games of the 2019 season, he produced a disappointing 5-11 record this past year. Now, the defensive-minded coach could be on the hot seat if expectations aren’t met soon.

But while Fangio is likely the mastermind of the defense, it’s the offense that could use substantial help if the Broncos are going to make a leap heading into 2021. Pointedly, they need to confidently secure a franchise quarterback. Denver may be able to find that in Deshaun Watson.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Watson recently gave a list of NFL teams he’s “intrigued by”. The Denver Broncos were one of the teams on that list. And that could be huge for the franchise as they possibly aim to move on from Drew Lock.

Deshaun Watson could be the answer the Denver Broncos have been searching for.

Deshaun Watson can make an immediate impact on the Broncos offense as he’d be surrounded by quality weapons. Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Noah Fant, Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay, among others, would set the quarterback up for immediate success in Denver.

Gordon led the backfield last year as Lindsay battled injuries and scored 10 total touchdowns with 1,144 yards from scrimmage. When Sutton suffered a torn ACL in Week 2, several wide receivers stepped up. Jeudy, as a rookie, led the Broncos in receiving with 856 yards while Tim Patrick led in receiving touchdowns with six. Fant led the team in receptions with 62, even though he battled through injuries.

The combination of Watson and these weapons, along with a strong offensive line and defense, would make the Broncos would be an immediate threat to win the AFC West. Watson is coming off a career year in Houston as he led the NFL in passing yards as well as setting a career-high in completion rate, touchdowns and yards. And that was after his best receiver was traded away last offseason.

With Fangio’s seat possibly getting hot in Denver, the need to win is at an all-time high for the head coach. Watson alleviates much of that pressure. The NFL is a results-driven league and Fangio’s clock is ticking. Now that J.J. Watt has been released, it feels like only a matter of time that Watson will be traded. As the Broncos are on his list, Denver needs to be looking to get a deal done.
