2021 NFL Mock Draft: Eagles target DeVonta Smith, Bears settle on Mac Jones

There were rumors that the New York Jets could go after Deshaun Watson — and that the Houston Texans quarterback had the Jets in mind as one of his potential landing spots. Of course, things could finally be changing for them. They made arguably the best hire of the offseason when they landed Robert Saleh. The former San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator is a young star in the game and should finally command the respect that Adam Gase could not.
Now, they come in with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft — which is the first of two picks for them in this opening round. That selection is used in this mock on Justin Fields and it would be surprising to see anyone other than Fields get the call when this pick is announced.
Fields is an elite playmaker who can deliver any throw necessary and can hurt teams with his legs as well. He should be the franchise quarterback they hoped they were landing with Sam Darnold a couple of seasons ago — and while it’s not Darnold’s fault things have been so bad, both sides can benefit from a change.
