Cleveland Browns dream free agency target No. 3: Justin Simmons, S

Despite a slow start to his career, Justin Simmons has put on defensive clinics over his last two seasons at the safety position, notching a second-team All-Pro selection in 2019 and a Pro-Bowl selection this past season.

Simmons posted an impressive five interceptions and 77 solo tackles in his 2020 season alone. the free safety has proven that he is not only a threat in coverage, but capable of quality run support as well as playing over the middle, an ability that would aid the Cleveland Browns struggling linebacker group.

The Cleveland secondary struggled throughout the season, in large part due to the inconsistent play from Andrew Sendejo and mounting injuries to Cleveland’s defensive back group. Signing Simmons would not only vastly improve a woeful secondary but would also take pressure off the Cleveland linebackerss that struggled in run-stopping and playing sideline-to-sideline ball.

Only in his fifth season, Simmons would be a fantasy signing for Cleveland and their fans and well worth the money, as most Browns fans are likely nervous if second-year safety Grant Delpit will pan out after missing his rookie season due to injury.

There’s a high chance Simmons will be franchise tagged by the Denver Broncos for a second year in a row, but if for some reason Vic Fangio an company decide to let him loose, Cleveland needs to pay attention.
