The Packers’ weakest link on defense is the defensive line. Sure, Green Bay has a Pro Bowl-caliber nose tackle in Kenny Clark, but outside of him the D-line lacks depth. Add in the fact that defensive end Dean Lowry is likely to be released as a measure to save money on the salary cap, and the Packers are even more likely to bolster their depth up front.

A dream target in free agency is Leonard Williams, one of the most well-rounded linemen in the entire NFL. Williams, drafted sixth overall by the New York Jets in 2015. He was traded to the Giants in 2019 and will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

Although Williams has only been named to one Pro Bowl in his career, he’s actually been a very productive player. He had his best season in 2020, racking up 11.5 sacks, 14 tackles for losses and 30 quarterback hits. Not only was Williams effective in pressuring quarterbacks, but he was a monster in the running game.

Williams, who turns 27 in June, is in the midst of his prime and would be a huge addition to the Packers defensive line rotation. He can play anywhere along the line, too, which bodes well for showing exotic looks on third down.
