Buffalo Bills dream free agent target No. 2: Brandon Scherff, G

With an aging offensive line that is almost entirely set to become free agents at the start of the 2021 season, the Buffalo Bills need to decide whether to bring back their good veterans, or place their money in a great talent.

In comes free agent offensive guard Brandon Scherff. The four-time Pro-Bowler and one-time First Team All-Pro selection is set to become a free agent after six seasons with the Washington Football Team.

At just 29 years old, Scherff has shown to be a model of consistency at the interior line. In his last three seasons alone, Scherff has been graded among the best in the league across all measures, showing versatility in both the pass-protection and run-blocking game.

In Buffalo’s high-powered system that utilizes both the massive arm of Josh Allen and a strong commitment to the rotation of versatile running backs, Scherff can contribute in every aspect of the playbook.

At his level of performance, and with plenty of years left to play, Scherff will probably look for a large contract — either from Washington or elsewhere. Buffalo will need to make the proper roster moves ahead of time if they even want to come close to matching the number a talent like Scherff may request in negotiations.

At the end of the day, Scherff also faces the franchise tag from Washington. But if the Buffalo Bills can name the right price, their aging offensive line is sure to get a boost come the 2021 season.
