Green Bay Packers 7-round 2021 NFL mock draft revamps O-line
Comparisons that you’ll see between Jaylen Twyman and Aaron Donald are only based in the fact that they are both undersized defensive tackles who played at Pitt. Twyman is not nearly the same type of athletic freak that Donald is and, frankly, he hurt his draft stock by opting-out of the 2020 season and not putting more explosive plays on film. However, that could be the benefit of the Packers.
Twyman does need to put on a bit more functional weight to succeed on the defensive line in the NFL but his explosiveness and quickness as a rusher are impressive. Green Bay needs to get some impact from down lineman outside of Kenny Clark and, with the right development and the right roles for the Pittsburgh product, Twyman could very well be that player for the franchise.
We’re going back to the wide receiver well because that’s what the Packers situation dictates with how the position has been wanting as of late. When you look at players like Lazard and MVS, it’s clear that Green Bay likes bigger wideouts but having a roster exclusively in that mold is bad. So after adding Newsome, they add an even smaller but equally effective player in Jaelon Darden out of North Texas.
Darden has juice for days and in every sense of the word. He not only has the speed to get off the line quickly and get behind the opposing coverage but he is just as dangerous when thrown to on short routes and bubble screens as he’s ultra effective at making defenders miss and getting loose in space. He’s a weapon that the Packers are lacking and who also has special teams value as well with his returning ability.
