Indianapolis Colts: Perfect 2021 NFL Draft fits for first four picks
Indianapolis Colts Round 2 draft fit: Trill Williams, CB, Syracuse
The Wild Card Round loss showed where the Colts were at their weakest: cornerback. Rock Ya-Sin is a long man-press corner who was inconsistent throughout the 2021 season. Kenny Moore is the lone star who locks down the slot. With Xavier Rhodes hitting free agency, the Colt needs more help.

With the Colts needing to grab a tackle early, addressing the cornerback position should be next on their board. They need a guy who can fit their pattern match zone style. Someone who can play press coverage with instincts as a zone defender. The ideal prospect is the former Syracuse corner Trill Williams.
For starters, he has excellent traits, he’s 6-2 nearly 200 pounds with good hip fluidity and closing speed. He’s an ideal fit as an outside corner where he played most of his career. Williams showed his aggressiveness, maximizing his length in press coverage
However, he’s more than just an outside corner. The junior prospect also played nickel corner and safety. His versatility was on full display during his three-year career. During his tenure, he totaled 92 tackles, four interceptions, five pass breakups and three forced fumbles. He also had two defensive touchdowns, one of which was a fumble recovery.
Williams is perfect for Matt Eberflus’ defense as a potential full-time boundary corner. If Rhodes returns, Williams can come in as a sub package safety and outside corner before taking over full time.
