25 best players to never make a Pro Bowl: 23. Simon Fletcher, LB

Career stats:

  • 828 total tackles
  • 97.5 sacks
  • 20 forced fumbles

Best season 1992:

  • 99 total tackles
  • 16 sacks
  • 5 forced fumbles

Simon Fletcher should have never been on this list. Unlike several names on here that had inconsistent numbers but just so happened to have one breakout year, Fletcher was essentially the model of consistency.

From 1989-1993, he averaged 13 sacks per season. In 1992 however, he put together his most productive campaign. Whenever opposing QBs walked into a game featuring Fletcher, they knew good and well that they wouldn’t have much time to get things done from the pocket as Fletcher racked up 16 sacks to go along with five forced fumbles. In addition to that, he also fell just one tackle short of bringing in 100 on the year.

Fletcher’s 1992 season was so impressive in fact, that he ranked fourth in the entire league in total sacks. Not only was his production always there when he stepped on the field but he was pretty much always in the lineup.

Outside of his 1987 campaign where he missed four games, Fletcher played in every single one of his games for the duration of his career.
To sum it all up, Fletcher was both reliable and unbelievably productive. For that reason, he is considered one of the biggest snubs in NFL history.
