The Dallas Cowboys would be facing a tough decision if Kyle Pitts is on the board at No. 10 overall but they should add the Florida tight end if he’s there

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

In 2020, the Dallas Cowboys were in desperate need of help on the defensive side of the ball but they were thrown a curveball in the draft when CeeDee Lamb fell to them at No. 17.

Now in 2021, they again need serious help on the defensive side of the ball but there’s a lot of talk about what they should do if another major offensive weapon — Kyle Pitts from Florida — is available when they’re on the clock at No. 10 in the upcoming 2021 NFL Draft.

The general consensus seems to be that Dallas should forgo the generational tight end talent and take the best cornerback on the board — likely Patrick Surtain or Jaycee Horn. This feels like the right call given how bad their secondary was in 2020, but then again, passing on someone with the skill set of Pitts is never a good idea.

That’s why, even if it’s not the popular move, Dallas should absolutely pull the trigger on Pitts at No. 10.

Reason No. 3: This is still an offensive league

Yes, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers shut the Kansas City Chiefs down in the Super Bowl and that’s a huge reason they won it all. Having said that, this team wasn’t going anywhere until Tom Brady joined them and brought in some friends.

Brady had Rob Gronkowski, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, and Antonio Brown on that roster. That offense was absolutely stacked and could have still had a chance to win even if they were in a shootout.

And no matter how good your defense is, every team in the NFL will find themselves in a spot where they need to simply outrun the opponent — see the Week 2 game against Atlanta and Week 4 contest vs. Cleveland as examples.

Offense still wins in the NFL and adding a premium offensive player is never a mistake.
