30. EDGE. 17. Georgia. Azeez Ojulari. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

(Pick via Raiders) – The big thing to note about the Jets trading down is that they didn’t miss on a quarterback — they have Derek Carr in the fold. Some people might be less than crazy about that given the narrative that has surrounded the Raiders quarterback but he’s undoubtedly the best signal-caller the Jets have seen in a long time. Plus, they can now address other dire needs elsewhere on the roster.

Here, that’s the edge rusher spot, a place where they haven’t had a true playmaker in roughly a decade. Azeez Ojulari could be that player as an explosive and freakish physical specimen off the edge. He’s also versatile with the ability to effectively create a pass rush but also adequately drop into coverage. This would be a huge win for the Jets in the net.

Pick Analysis. USC. Alijah Vera-Tucker. 18. Scouting Report. OL. player. 60

(Pick via Dolphins) – One of the teams I always struggle with in every NFL mock draft I write is the Minnesota Vikings. Picking at No. 14, either edge rusher or offensive line are the two obvious things to address. Unfortunately, I tend to not be crazy about the value there. But moving down a few spots and getting an extra future draft pick and still getting Alijah Vera-Tucker, a player I’ve mocked to them at No. 14 many times, makes sense.

Vera-Tucker showcased his versatility at USC, playing both guard and left tackle for the Trojans. He’s a fantastic mover and athlete with polished footwork and functional strength to boot. He’s likely best slotted on the inside, which is where the Vikings would most need him. But his ability as a lineman in any spot only would make him more valuable for Minnesota in the long run.
