As the Dallas Cowboys aim for a resurgent 2021 season, these five players have been impressive throughout the offseason minicamps and workouts.

After an almost unbelievably tumultuous 2020 campaign for the Dallas Cowboys, there was going to be a watchful eye on OTAs and offseason minicamps for the team. Fans and analysts alike would be looking for Dak Prescott to see how his recovery was coming along, for young stars to continue to make an impact, and for the team to simply look healthy and ready to improve.

For the most part, the Cowboys have checked those boxes this offseason. Prescott was the talk of the offseason so far, looking healthy, locked-in and well on-track to play in Week 1. Moreover, CeeDee Lamb looks like a budding star while new defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has already started to put his fingerprints on the defense.

Prescott, Lamb and several other players aside, though, there were a number of players who have seized the opportunity this offseason and made an impact. Simply put, these five Dallas Cowboys players have been turning heads leading up to the 2021 NFL season.

5. Ezekiel Elliott, RB

There wasn’t just one thing that contributed to Ezekiel Elliott not looking like a dominant force in the 2020 season for the first time in his career. Part of it was due to some nagging injuries, part of it was the lack of a passing threat with Dak Prescott on the field, part of it was the heavily injured offensive line and part of it was Elliott seemingly being disinterested and not engaged.

Thus far in the offseason, though, the expectations are starting to grow for Elliott in the 2021 season as he could be poised for a huge bounce-back year. Yes, Prescott and the offensive line will be back healthy but, more importantly, the former No. 4 overall pick has portrayed a new level of focus that it’s safe to say we haven’t seen from him in some time.

Jon Machota of The Athletic (subscription required) quoted both Prescott and fellow running back Tony Pollard with gushing effusive praise for Elliott and the work he’s put in this offseason. Everything indicates that Elliott is in the best shape of his life and, although ’tis the season for that type of rhetoric, pictures from offseason workouts show as much. He looks slimmer, fitter and ready to be a dominant factor.

While Prescott and a loaded wide receiver corps will be key to the offensive success, getting Elliott back on track is just as important. From what we’re seeing, a resurgent Zeke might be on the menu for the Cowboys’ 2021 season.
