1. France – NFL Franchise Comparison: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Next game: vs. Switzerland, Monday, June 28
If you took the best player from every team at EURO 2020 and put them all on one roster, it is still unlikely that their skill level is as good as this France team. World Cup Champions in 2018, France are the undisputed best team coming into EURO 2020. Every player in their squad is elite, and even the players left out of the final tournament 26-man squad would make any other national team in the world.
France play with style and panache, and the balance of their squad is unparalleled in the last 16. The best player on the team and one of the best young players in the entire world is Kylian Mbappe. Blessed with frightening pace and top-quality finishing, he is a nightmare for opposing defenses.
All around Mbappe are players at the top level of European club football, such as Paul Pogba, Ngolo Kante, and Karim Benzema to name just a few. From goalkeeper and captain Hugo Lloris all the way to the strikers, this is a team full of talent and quality.
The only worthy comparison that makes sense for the talent of this France team in the NFL is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Led by Tom Brady, the current Super Bowl Champions are one of the best-assembled squads in the NFL. After retaining Brady and a bunch of top free agents, the team is set to dominate opposition defenses in their pursuit of a second ring.
They have amazing depth all across their offense, their defense proved more than worthy of a Super Bowl in big-game performances, and they should be feared for the upcoming 2021 season. Fans of more talented teams like to see favorites win. France are amongst the shortest odds to win EURO 2020, and Buccaneers fans will be pushing them all the way.
