The Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers will bring live NFL football back into our lives on Thursday night as they square off in the Hall of Fame Game.

It feels like years ago that Tom Brady and the Bucs were hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at their home stadium but the NFL is ready to return as the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers will kick off the 2021 preseason from Canton, OH for the annual Hall of Fame Game that precedes the enshrinement ceremony for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Both the game and the ceremony were canceled last year due to COVID-19, so this will be a welcomed sight to have two teams back in action at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Thursday night, Aug. 5. The enshrinement ceremony will take place on the weekend to honor both the 2020 and 2021 inductees, thus requiring two days to give everyone their proper recognition.

But again, we’ll get to see the Cowboys and Steelers face off before that happens in the Hall of Fame Game. And while we likely won’t see many of the projected starters on the field, this is a great time to get a look at rookies or newcomers hoping to prove themselves.

So we have you covered with how you can watch the Cowboys vs. Steelers Hall of Fame Game matchup and what you should be watching for.

Start time, TV channel and how to live stream and watch Cowboys vs. Steelers in the Hall of Fame Game

FOX will get the first live NFL game since February as they kick off the festivities in Canton with the Cowboys and Steelers taking the field. Kickoff will be at 8:00 p.m. ET which is also the local time as well.

Unless you are very interested in either team’s 90-man roster, particularly the bottom of it, you might want to tune into the Hall of Fame Game as soon as the ball is kicked off as both teams will make their way through the depth chart — of the guys that are even playing — as the contest progresses.

Fans can stream the Hall of Fame Game on FOX Sports Live with a valid cable or satellite subscription to log in. You can also subscribe to FuboTV, which is available for a free trial when you sign up.

What to watch for from the Cowboys and Steelers in the Hall of Fame Game

As mentioned, we won’t see many starters out there for Dallas or Pittsburgh. In fact, America’s Team didn’t even send the likes of Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper on the trip to Canton. So they won’t be there and don’t expect to see an appearance from guys like Ben Roethlisberger or T.J. Watt suiting up for the black and gold either.

In any case, there is still plenty to watch in the Hall of Fame Game. For the Cowboys, their defense has been a big question mark but we should get a look at a number of young secondary players, including guys like Nahshon Wright, who could possibly crack the cornerback rotation. Meanwhile, the wide receiver and quarterback depth with be in focus as well.

The Steelers will give us a bit more of a glimpse into the regular season as they will surely be working with many of their offensive linemen who could start this year as they completely overhauled that unit. Key among that group will be center Kendrick Green. Behind them, we should at least get a brief look at first-round running back Najee Harris, who comes into the league with a ton of hype.

More often than not, the Hall of Fame Game doesn’t offer the highest level of football. But it is an opportunity for fans to see their young players and potential depth pieces get opportunities to prove themselves. Plus, any football is better than no football at all.
