Ravens vs. Panthers preview
It’s hard to believe we’ll see much, if any, of Lamar Jackson on Saturday evening but the quarterback depth is always key. Unfortunately, injuries have bitten the Ravens pretty hard thus far, meaning we also likely won’t get any looks at Marquise Brown and Sammy Watkins while certainly not getting a look at rookie Rashod Bateman.
The defense is going to be fun to watch, though, even in the preseason. Odafe Oweh is a first-round pick with limitless upside but we need to see him perform and make plays to prove he can be part of the rotation right away this season.
For the Panthers, the hope is that we’re going to get the first look at Sam Darnold suiting up for the team. Reports out of training camp have been up-and-down for the former Jets quarterback but we’ve not seen him in Joe Brady’s offense with these weapons to see if he can salvage his career.
The defense, on the other hand, just needs to stay the course. Studs like Brian Burns might not get much time but this is a talented group that made a jump under Matt Rhule last season and they hope to not take any steps back.
