It’s not often that the defense outplays the offense for the Kansas City Chiefs but that was the case this weekend when the defending AFC Champions beat Arizona 17-10.

Head coach Andry Reid talked up that side of the ball after the win, saying he was pleased with their performance.

"“All in all, I was pleased with the defense and how they played,” Kansas City coach Andy Reid said according to the AP via ESPN. “All in all, I thought it was a good game. Offensively we had a lot of yards, a lot of plays and probably could have had more points in that first half.”"

Former MVP Patrick Mahomes didn’t have his best day but the defense made things easy. That’s a scary thought for anyone having to face this team.

Tom Brady made a rare appearance in Preseason Week 1 but wasn’t out there when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the Tennessee Titans. Nor should he have been.

Brady has been in the NFL longer than some players have been on earth, so he doesn’t need the snaps. Neither do most of their offensive and defensive starters. That’s why it’s not concerning at all to see them lose 34-3 to a Titans team led by Matt Barkley and Logan Woodside.

The defending champions will be fine when the season kicks off and will be atop the 2021 NFL Power Rankings as well — until someone proves they’re better.
