Fantasy Football Mock Draft 2021: Round 3

  • Team 1 (3.01): Chris Carson, RB, SEA
  • Team 2 (3.02): Keenan Allen, WR, LAC
  • Team 3 (3.03): Patrick Mahomes, QB, KC
  • Team 4 (3.04): A.J. Brown, WR, TEN
  • Team 5* (3.05): Terry McLaurin, WR, WFT
  • Team 6 (3.06): Robert Woods, WR, LAR
  • Team 7 (3.07): Allen Robinson, WR, CHI
  • Team 8 (3.08): David Montgomery, RB, CHI
  • Team 9 (3.09): George Kittle, TE, SF
  • Team 10 (3.10): James Robinson, RB, JAX
  • Team 11 (3.11): CeeDee Lamb, WR, DAL
  • Team 12 (3.12): Josh Jacobs, RB, LVR

Once again, the guy I was targeting came off the board a few picks before I got back on the clock. Keenan Allen is about as safe of a pick as you could make in the third round. He’s had at least 136 targets in each of the past four seasons and has averaged 1,234 yards per 16 games over that span.

With that said, I’m more than happy to end up with Terry McLaurin as my second wide receiver in this fantasy football mock draft. In just his second NFL season last year, McLaurin caught 87 of 134 targets for 1,118 yards, though he only scored four touchdowns. However, he also did that with a carousel of mediocre or worse quarterbacks getting him the ball.

Ryan Fitzpatrick isn’t Patrick Mahomes — who also came off the board as the first quarterback drafted in the third round — but he’s a substantial upgrade from what Washington has been trotted out. Furthermore, he’s a great fit for McLaurin with his ability and willingness to push the ball down the field.

Robert Woods was a consideration here, as was James Robinson. However, the upside of McLaurin was too enticing to pass up and, with the hopes of finding some running back value later in the draft, that was the pick for this team.
