Quarterly MVP odds: +6000 Jameis Winston

Jameis Winston can either find himself at the top of the MVP charts or not on the list at all. For the sake of this list, we’re going to assume that he shouldn’t be on it at all.

We’ve all watched Winston up close and personal over the years. He’s the ultimate hot and cold player. The former number one overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft is either craving up defenses and throwing for over 5,000 yards or he’s handing the opposition the ball and leading the league in interceptions just like he did in 2019.

So far, Winston hasn’t been a turnover machine. He’s been fairly careful with the ball, throwing only two interceptions compared to eight touchdowns but head coach Sean Payton has Winston on seemingly a pitch count. Winston has yet to throw the ball more than 23 times in a game and he’s only thrown more than 200 yards just once this year and it took overtime to get there.

Winston’s not so great numbers are mainly because Payton has an affinity for backup quarterback Taysom Hill. The dual-threat QB has gotten his number called on several occasions to either throw the ball, or more times than not, to rush it down the throat of the defense. Until Payton takes the leash off Winston, he has absolutely no chance at winning MVP this season.
