Quarterly MVP odds: +10000 Alvin Kamara

As we get lower and lower on this list, we’ve begun to run across a few puzzling names. Running back Alvin Kamara fits that trend here.

The New Orleans Saints are a middle of the pack team at 2-2. Although their record isn’t horrific, normally players that come from average teams, need to put together the sort of season that will make voters look past their subpar record. So far, Kamara hasn’t been able to do so.

Known for his ability to chug it down the face of defenders and catch the ball in the backfield for huge chunk plays, Kamara hasn’t been great at doing either so far this year. His 297 rushing yards so far rank sixth in the league but he’s third in rushing attempts with 78. Kamara’s 3.8 yards per rush isn’t even ranked in the top 35 in the league.

Another reason why we seriously doubt he’ll get any votes this season, is because he hasn’t been much of a pass catcher, grabbing only 10 balls thus far for 62 yards.

So let me get this straight, Kamara is doing a decent job at rushing the ball, he’s horrific in the pass catching department, the Saints appear to be pretenders instead of contenders and, to make matters worse, Kamara hasn’t registered a single touchdown all year. There’s nothing more that needs to be said.
