The 7th greatest quarterback-wide receiver duo in NFL history: Y.A. Tittle & Billy Wilson

Remember Steve Young and Joe Montana? That’s more of a rhetorical question, everyone reading this article should, and if you have no idea who they are, take a second to go do some research. We’ll give you a moment…

Now that you realize how great those previously mentioned quarterbacks are, let’s take the time to recognize that Y.A. Tittle was the first great quarterback that the franchise had. With Tittle at the helm, along with wide receiver Billy Wilson, the San Francisco 49ers enjoyed plenty of success.

For ten seasons, the two dominated the league. The 49ers pushed forward a winning record in eight seasons and in the process, they had monster stats. On three separate occasions, Wilson led the league in total receptions. Tittle was amongst the league leaders in yards per game for the majority of his time with the 49ers. They were both selected to six Pro Bowls but weren’t exactly world-beaters in the postseason. In fact, the pair never made it past the first round.

Despite that, they were the first big-time pairing in franchise history.
