New York Giants: Daniel Jones replacements and other 2022 prospects

4. Brenton Cox Jr., Edge, Florida

Lorenzo Carter’s contract is up after the 2021 NFL season. He’ll likely test the free agent market, especially if the Giants are looking to rebuild. Even if he’s brought back, Carter hasn’t been a dynamic pass rusher.

Getting players who can rush off the edge to pair with the emerging talent of Azeez Ojulari will help the G-Men get back to where they were a season ago.

University of Florida pass rusher, Brenton Cox solves that problem. As a rookie, he could come in on obvious passing downs, or as a situational pass rusher. Cox’s straight-line speed and flexibility show up when he rushes from a two-point stance.

He uses head fakes and false steps to set up defenders. As a run defender, the 6-4 253-pound rusher uses his length well, and his aggression shows when setting the edge.

Cox is a Top 75 prospect who’ll hear his name called late day two or early day three. The G-Men should have his name on their radar with one of their Day 2 picks.
