Green Bay Packers: 3 Players to trade for ahead of deadline

No. 2 CB Kyle Fuller (Denver Broncos)

This is a name that Packers fans have seen before, as the team had tried to acquire his services before back in 2018, as well as having to face him twice a year for six years when he was a starting corner for the Chicago Bears.

Fuller is a former First-Team All-Pro corner (2018) and has experience lining up throughout the defensive backfield at numerous positions in the secondary. He’s the prototypical slot-cornerback the Packers like, smaller frame, super-athletic, explosive, and he can come at the perfect price. Kyle Fuller sits at no. 4 in the Denver Broncos’ depth chart, and his usage on the field has been primarily as a depth player.

For someone used to starting all 16 games in a season, it’s easy for frustration to grow.

The Green Bay Packers are losing players in their secondary it seems with each passing day, and without superstar defensive back Jaire Alexander, the performance of the pass defense is severely hindered.

Adding a cornerback who can make an immediate impact and serve as a starter will keep opposing offenses in check without having to worry about a second-year guy that has only garnered experience from special teams and scout team in practices.

The experience and playmaking abilities of Fuller are of short stock, so Green Bay needs to pounce on the chance to nab him before anyone else does. They can’t sit back and watch idly while the chance to make a difference in their lineup is available. It’s time to be aggressive and go for gold.

Their pass defense currently allows just 206.5 passing yards per game (4th in the NFL), but allows an average of over two passing touchdowns against. Adding a corner like Fuller who can effectively lock down some of the best wideouts in the game while forcing key turnovers will set them over the edge.

In recent years, the struggle has always been the defense. Aaron Rodgers and Co. can put up 28+ points with ease, but the defense needs to step up. Adding a reliable pass-defender to the room will help in doing so.
