NFL Power Rankings, Week 8: Big test coming for Packers

The Washington Football Team shut down the running game for the Green Bay Packers as they managed just 57 yards on the day. 17 of those yards came from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was also sacked three times and had many other times where he had to scramble away from trouble.

Even with all that being said, the Packers won easily. It was their sixth win in a row as they are once again one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL. Rodgers led the way with 274 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. He was dangerously sharp, completing 27-of-35 passes as he continues to remind us all why he’s considered one of the best to ever play the position.

On defense, the Packers were better than we had seen for much of this season. A putrid red zone defense, they had given up 14 touchdowns in as many tries before stopping the Football Team three times in this game including an interception from Chandon Sullivan and a fourth-down stop as well.

Next week, the Packers play against the Cardinals which could decide who gets home-field advantage in the playoffs — as well as the only bye. That one will be on Thursday Night Football and is easily the best offering on that night since Dallas vs. Tampa Bay in Week 1.
