NFL Power Rankings, Week 8: Cardinals move to 7-0

It was an interesting day for a couple of former Houston Texans as DeAndre Hopkins and J.J. Watt faced their former team for the first time ever. Hopkins, who joined the Arizona Cardinals last season put up 53 yards on seven receptions with one touchdown.

As for Watt, who had been the face of the franchise since 2011 in Houston, had just one tackle but that did go for a loss. His defensive teammates, however, had much more success including Markus Golden who sacked Davis Mills twice.

That unit held Houston to one field goal and the only other points for the road team came via an early safety — which shouldn’t have counted since there was a blatant facemask on the play that was missed.

Offensively, the Cards were just as good. Kyler Murray had 261 yards passing with three touchdowns and the ground game put up 172 yards and James Conner ran in an impressive touchdown.

Now at 7-0, Arizona continues to be the No. 1 team in our 2021 NFL Power Rankings and they even proved they’ve gotten better recently. Their trade for Zach Ertz gave them another weapon and he had 66 yards and a touchdown in his debut game.

Arizona will now put their undefeated record on the line in Week 8 against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. That could be a game with some huge implications as both teams are playing fantastic football and could be in play for the No. 1 seed.
