NFL Power Rankings, Week 8: Buccaneers embarrass Bears

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just keep steamrolling opponents. This past weekend, they were at home with Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears coming to town. The rookie quarterback got his first taste of going against Brady and it wasn’t even a contest.

Fields struggled mightily with the Bucs defense and threw three picks while being sacked twice. There were also two lost fumbles by Fields as the rookie gave it away five times. As is often the case with Brady, that meant he simply ran away with the game.

Tampa Bay put up 38 points and it could have been more. They ended up pulling many of their starters late as Brady even went to the sidelines in favor of Blaine Gabbert. However, he didn’t leave until after he threw four touchdowns including No. 600 in his career.

Mike Evans was on the receiving end of that touchdown pass and then he might have had the only blunder of the day for the Bucs. Evans handed the ball to a fan before realizing its historic significance and someone with the organization had to go bargain with the fan to get Brady’s ball back.

Now at 6-1, the Bucs look to be easy favorites in the NFC South and they have a shot to put some distance between themselves and their only real competitors, the New Orleans Saints, next week.
