Dallas Cowboys player who won’t return No. 3: Damontae Kazee

This offseason was a strange one for Cowboys fans. After watching their team completely ignore the safety position the way I got ignored at school dances, they suddenly decided to sign three free agents in the same offseason.

Damontae Kazee was one of the three as he came over from the Atlanta Falcons along with defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. The veteran free safety has started all six games for Dallas and has 17 tackles, three pass defenses, an interception, and a forced fumble so far.

He also found himself in trouble during the team’s bye week. Kazee was arrested on Tuesday morning during the team’s week off and charged with a DWI. That’s clearly not a good look and while that doesn’t guarantee the Cowboys would move on from a player, it won’t help. Neither will the fact that he’s graded out much lower this season than expected.

Putting all that together, Kazee could find himself one and done in Big D as the team should look at finding a younger option in the draft to play alongside either Donovan Wilson or the surprising Jayron Kearse who they should be trying to bring back after his performance in the first six games.
