NFL: Top 25 boldest predictions for the rest of the season: 11. Jason Garrett doesn’t make it to Week 18

There are only so many people who can pay the price for this New York Giants season. Joe Judge isn’t going anywhere. It seems like he is extremely popular in the locker room and with the front office and ownership. General managers never get cut in the middle of the season, so Dave Gettleman is going to get himself a mulligan. That leaves Jason Garrett.

The Giants offensive coordinator hasn’t been an abject disaster since he was hired last season, but that’s mostly because there aren’t a lot of expectations for this offense in general due to two years of Saquon Barkley injuries. What has this offense done under Jason Garrett?

The Giants score 19 points per game. Seven teams in the league are worse, but that’s not really that much of a concept of what’s happening here. Daniel Jones hasn’t really showed a lot of promise. The Giants spent big money to get Kenny Golladay in the offseason, and it’s gone terribly in year one. Kadarius Toney is a positive light on the offensive side, but he hasn’t really broken out as much as he could have. The offense in general looks disjointed, and someone has to pay for that.

Maybe the Giants wait until the end of the season to fire Jason Garrett, but it seems like if the team is trying to make a statement, Garrett would be the name to get rid of. The season is basically in the tank at 2-6, and it’s time to set themselves up for the future. Settling for mediocre on offense would not be a good start.
