2021 NFL Power Rankings Week 10: Cardinals, Titans overcome the odds
By Randy Gurzi
The honeymoon in Charlotte is over. At the beginning of the season, it appeared the Carolina Panthers stole Sam Darnold from the Jets. The former No. 3 overall pick was slinging it everywhere and they were off to a 3-0 start. Then, the bottom dropped out.
Carolina was handed four losses in a row before finding a way to beat the Atlanta Falcons last weekend. However, they were unable to turn that game into the start of a run because they were just beaten up by the New England Patriots on Sunday.
The defense forced multiple picks from Darnold including a second-half interception from J.C. Jackson that he took back 88 yards to the house. That one put it out of reach but there was really no threat that they were going to come back in this one.
It was disappointing since they had Christian McCaffrey back in the game for the first time since September 23 against Houston. He played well and had over 100 all-purpose yards but that wasn’t enough to keep them in the game.
Carolina will go on the road in Week 10 to face the Arizona Cardinals which won’t be a great place to try and get things going again. Right now, this season is looking like it will be a disappointment and they have to go back to the drawing board to see if they should try Darnold out for another season in 2022.
