When the New Orleans Saints lost Jameis Winston to a torn ACL, it appeared they were going to be just fine. Trevor Siemian came in and led them to a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But then, things started to get difficult.

They lost 27-25 to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9 and now suffered another two-point loss as the Tennessee Titans held on for a 23-21 win. Siemian ended up with 298 yards and two touchdowns but was just 19-of-34 on his passing attempts.

He’s been fine, but you have to wonder why he’s been the guy the past two weeks. When Siemian took over against Tampa Bay, Taysom Hill was out with a concussion. However, Hill has been back the past two weeks and is still playing his “gadget” role where he gets a couple of runs and a couple of passes every game.

It’s odd since Sean Payton seemed dead set on Hill being the guy this season. He was given a comically inflated contract that is pretty much just there to be voided but he also gave him the first shot with the first team. Now that Winston is out, it would only seem to make sense that he gets a chance and his ability to move the ball with his legs could be what sparks this team.
