NFL: Ranking the worst QB Chemistry in the league: 11. Daniel Jones to Kenny Golladay – New York Giants

The New York Giants spent big this offseason to build around Daniel Jones. It wasn’t a bad idea. The Giants need to know if Jones is the quarterback of the future, but they couldn’t do it with the offense of last year. So, the Giants added Kadarius Toney in the NFL Draft and then signed Kenny Golladay, Kyle Rudoph, and Devonte Booker in free agency.

Three of those four moves seem to have worked. Toney has been really good when healthy, and the Giants might have been right to take him when they did. Saquon Barkley got hurt again, so Booker is now the starting running back. He’s been pretty good so far. Even Kyle Rudolph is giving the Giants what they’ve been advertised. However, Kenny Golladay has been anything but as advertised.

Golladay is in and out of the lineup with injuries, but when he is in there, he can’t do anything worthwhile. The real way to explain Golladay’s season comes with what happened in Weeks 4 and 5 of the season. He finally broke out with Daniel Jones, catching six balls for 116 yards in a surprise win against the New Orleans Saints. It was a pivotal moment that could have started a new career for Golladay in the Big Apple.

The next week, they were facing the hated Dallas Cowboys. He had three targets and caught zero balls. He got hurt in the game, and he didn’t return until November. Something is just off with Golladay. Maybe he is still dealing with an injury, but the signing is looking like a bust thus far and might be the final nail in David Gettleman’s coffin.
