NFL: Ranking the worst QB-WR Chemistry in the league: 2. Matthew Stafford to Desean Jackson – Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams added Deshaun Jackson as a luxury to break the top off a defense, but the veteran receiver clearly didn’t like his role in the offense, and that impacted the relationship between quarterback and receiver. It was hard to get the ball to Jackson when Cooper Kupp was building such a great relationship with newly acquired Matthew Stafford.

Stafford was already trying to build chemistry with an entire room of receivers. He was used to receiver turnover, but he was used to being the constant in Detroit. Now, he was the one who was new and the wide receiver room was mostly the same. The new face was Jackson.

There were times of hope. In the Rams’ win against the defending champion Buccaneers, Jackson broke the top off the defense multiple times. He finished the game with 120 yards and a touchdown. After that, he never had more than one catch in a game. It’s great to have a home-run hitter like Jackson at the ready, but to keep him happy you have to get him the ball.

Jackson is now a member of the Las Vegas Raiders. They can use someone with his skillset, so it will probably work better.
