2021 NFL Bold Prediction No. 8: Tom Brady, Bucs lose in the opening round of playoffs

Tom Brady has seven NFL Championships and if that wasn’t enough reason to consider him the greatest of all time, he gave us another in 2020. After 20 years with the New England Patriots, he headed to Florida where he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He then took a team that had not been to the playoffs since 2007 into the postseason where they ended up winning it all. Want more icing on the cake? They also did so in their own stadium, becoming the first franchise to ever win a home Super Bowl.

Naturally, that has Brady and the Bucs favored again this season and it makes a lot of sense. They returned every starter on both sides of the ball which is hard for teams to do after winning it all. That’s led to them heading out to a commanding lead in the NFC South with a record of 8-3 at this point.

They should have no problem getting into the playoffs but when they do, they might not find it as easy as it was in the 2020 postseason. Not only are there some good teams that will end up with a Wild Card spot, but the Buccaneers’ defense hasn’t been as dominant this season as they were down the stretch last year, especially in the passing game.

That will lead to something very uncommon for Brady as he and Tampa Bay are sent home early thanks to the defense giving up a scoring drive late as he sits on the bench wishing he had one more shot on the field.
