2021 NFL Bold Prediction No. 7: Cooper Kupp breaks receptions, yardage record

Cooper Kupp is having a great season for the Los Angeles Rams. With six games left to play, he already has 92 receptions (two shy of his personal best from 2019), 1,237 yards (which is the most he’s ever had), and 10 touchdowns (which ties his career-high).

He’s clearly had a great rapport with new quarterback Matthew Stafford and continues to get a ton of targets. In fact, he’s only had one game this season where the ball was thrown his way fewer than 10 times, which was in Week 8 when he had seven receptions on nine targets for 115 yards. All that production has him eyeing not only the single-season receptions title, but the yardage one as well.

Michael Thomas currently holds the record for the most receptions in league history with 149, which he recorded in 2019. As for the yardage leader, that would be Calvin Johnson who had 1,964 back in 2012 with the Lions.

Kupp should continue to get a high number of targets, even with Odell Beckham, Jr. in town — especially since the offense lost Robert Woods for the season. Because of that, Kupp could unify these titles and finish the season with more receptions and yardage than any other receiver has ever recorded.
