FanDuel DFS NFL Week 13 picks and lineup advice: Wide Receiver

Compared to the running back position, the wide receiver position is pretty desolate this week. This means that I am definitely trying to play a running back in my flex in almost every lineup this week instead of a wideout. Cooper Kupp ($9000) is the most expensive wide receiver on the slate, and with news that Odell Beckham Jr ($6000) may miss time, I actually think Kupp is a solid cash game pivot off of some of the more expensive running backs.

Justin Jefferson ($8000) is coming off of a below-average game against the 49ers but now gets a much more generous matchup against Detroit. With the absence of Cook, Cousins will likely be forced to throw the ball a tad more, and he should be able to pick his spots against a Detroit team still looking for their first win.

Chris Godwin ($7600) and Mike Evans ($7400) are both great plays this week against an Atlanta defense with one of the worst secondaries in the league. While most weeks it is anyone’s guess who is going to outperform the other, I like Godwin this week in the slot while Evans will likely have to line up against A.J Terrell.

Marquise Brown ($7100) is one of my favorite plays this week in tournaments, as a few down weeks for the Ravens offense has both lowered his price and people’s willingness to play him. The Steelers’ secondary has been very weak this year and they are now dealing with Covid related problems on their defensive front. I like Brown’s chances of getting deep for a touchdown this week and easily paying off his salary.

With the injury to Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk ($7000) is going to be one of the more popular plays this week. While I think he is a fine play in cash lineups, as he is going to see plenty of volume on a red hot 49ers offense, I think he is one of my favorite players to fade in tournaments this week. His price tag is still pretty high and I have a sneaking suspicion that the Seahawks will play the Niners pretty close this week. The passing volume has never been high and I think the Niners continue to rely on Eli Mitchell this week.

As for some cheaper plays at the position, Van Jefferson Jr. ($5800) becomes an incredibly appealing play if OBJ is to miss the game, but can still get it done even if he is healthy. Jefferson has big-play upside, making him a much better play in tournament formats than cash lineups.

Finally, it certainly hurts but Josh Reynolds ($5100) is out there running routes on almost every snap and flashed his big-play ability last week. In a soft matchup with Minnesota, Reynolds does not have to do much in order to pay off this dirt-cheap salary.
