Dallas Cowboys key player No. 2: Micah Parsons, LB

Micah Parsons has been special for Dallas this season, there’s no denying that. He has 72 tackles, 16 of which have gone for a loss, and 10 sacks — which happen to be a franchise record for rookies. He made those of us — present company included — look foolish for doubting the selection of a linebacker at No. 12 overall, as he’s been one of the more valuable defenders in the entire league.

Having said all of that, Dallas is really going to need him to be at his best on Sunday against Washington. One of the better-used weapons on the opposing team this weekend will be Antonio Gibson who was a teammate of Tony Pollard’s at Memphis in 2018.

Also like Pollard, Gibson is a dual-threat. He has 800 yards on the ground this season and another 2016 as a receiver. In all, he has seven total touchdowns. If that wasn’t enough, Washington also has J.D. McKissic, who has 397 yards as a receiver out of the backfield.

Simply put, the Football Team can do damage with their running backs, especially in the passing game. That means players such as Micah Parsons will need to be on top of their game. He will need to continue to provide support in the run game but will also have to keep his head on a swivel, ready to go after a running back in the flat.

If he makes a few stops on some of the passes to the running backs, that could change the course of this game.
