1Q 6:29 -Defense Sacks Lawrence on Third Down with Creative Blitz

The Jaguars were facing a 3rd-and-10, and the Titans showed seven men at the line of scrimmage for rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence to figure out.

Whenever the defense lines up their linebackers on the line of scrimmage in between their defensive linemen, the quarterback will have trouble setting the protection. This practice is not uncommon, but it provides difficulty because you can never be certain that your offensive line is going to block the correct guys. This forces the line to make decisions post-snap, in the heat of the moment.

On this play, rookie cornerback Elijah Molden lined up right in the A-gap. He then engaged with the center before dropping into coverage. This allows six other defenders to rush upon only four offensive linemen and one running back.

The math is not good for the offense and linebacker Harold Landry was able to run right by the right tackle and sack Lawrence. This play was a beautiful example of getting to a six-man blitz in a creative way.
