Houston Texans 2022 mock draft: Trading Watson, starting fresh
Houston Texans 2022 mock draft: Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
With the first of the two picks acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in this mock draft (15th overall), the Houston Texans add some of the most dynamic speed in the entire 2022 class.
Jameson Williams transferred to Alabama from Ohio State and he’s been one of the top playmakers in all of college football this season for Heisman winner Bryce Young.
Williams has been instant offense for the Crimson Tide, fully capable of taking a slant 80 yards to the house just as he is making a contested catch in coverage deep downfield.
After using a third-round pick on Nico Collins in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Texans add some dynamic speed to go along with a player who is ideally suited playing the X receiver position in their offense.
Who knows what the future holds for Brandin Cooks in Houston, but adding Williams makes sense whether or not Cooks is on the roster beyond this year.
Davis Mills has shown some intriguing potential early on in his NFL career with three games over 300 yards passing already this season. It might not seem like much given how bad Houston has been overall as a team, but it would be interesting to see what Mills could do if the team just gives him a year and some better players around him.
