Philadelphia Eagles steal Michigan safety in Round 2 of 2022 mock draft

2. Second Round: Daxton Hill, S, Utah

Anthony Harris, Rodney McCleod, and K’Von Wallace have a lot of talent amongst the three of them. But when the Eagles continue to struggle, you may need to look for a change in the form of bringing in reinforcements. So, when Philly steps up to bat in Round 2, they get a guy who has leadership, instincts, and a chip on his shoulder in Michigan safety Daxton Hill.

Right now, Hill is preparing with his teammates to face a favored Georgia Bulldogs team in the upcoming Orange Bowl with a trip to the National Championship on the line against presumably Nick Saban and his Alabama arsenal. It’s hard to have seen this coming from the Wolverines this year, but they did it, and Hill is one of the reasons why this turnaround of a season occurred for the Maize and Blue.

Speed-wise, no concerns for Hill. He is a gifted athlete that has thrived in his current role and presents upside. He is also explosive when going after the football, allowing a defensive coordinator to use him as a versatile chess piece in the box or dropping back into coverage. Most importantly, he’s not slow to process information on the fly, which is crucial for a safety as the last line of defense.

Next up in Rounds 3-4, it back to the defensive line trenches, but this time, Hill, a Michigan man, will be teaming with someone from a school that has Maize and Blue fans constantly seething at the very mentioning. Also, the offense gets a burst alongside DeVonta Smith.
